climatemovement:

Just in case anyone is caught up in mainstream media coverage of Standing Rock, the Oceti Sakowin camp was being cleaned responsibly and the burning of the structures was a respectful akcnowledgement of the sacredness of the camp. The eviction is taking place right now, with legal observers being arrested by police in full riot gear.

This morning, Indigenous Rising spoke with Darren Begay who has been managing the Navajo style structures at Oceti. He told us that as This forced evacuation grew nearer, he consulted with elders from his ancestral lands and they all agreed that based on the behavior of the law enforcement in the past, who during raids have broken and thrown away sacred items and who have shown disregard and horrible disrespect to tipis and sacred dwellings, it is best to burn these scared structures instead of having them desecrated by Morton County and North Dakota law enforcement.

Lighting our dwellings on fire is a sign of respect for them. It’s a sign of respect for the purpose they have served over these past few months. They have been containers for prayer and for brining people together. By lighting them on fire we send their smoke up like prayers. By lighting them on fire we ensure these structures go out in dignity.

Hello Loves,

Our dear friend, Goot-Ges, is in the midst
of a serious struggle for her health and so we are inviting you to send some
love and care her way with us.

A part of what she needs is access to foods
that nourish and don’t harm her body.
While Goot-Ges has put away some traditional foods one of the most
violent and enduring facets of colonialism is the destruction of traditional
food sources.  This forces indigenous
peoples to be reliant on colonial capitalist systems to survive, perpetuating the
exploitation of land and people.  What
this means for Goot-Ges right now is that living up North under capitalism
there is little to no access to healthy, affordable Gluten Free food.

So, we are putting together a care package
to send to Goot Ges and her 3 children in so-called Prince Rupert.  If you would like to contribute an item, some
funds (to purchase items on our list or to help cover postage, any extra funds
will be sent directly to Goot-Ges), or a favourite gluten free recipe we would
love for you to do that.  (We are located
on Lkwungen/WSÀNEC territory).

We have put together a list, which you can
find below.  Please let us know what item
you are donating via email.  Also, if you
have something you would like to offer that is not on the list please reach out
to us, as we are sure that the Universe has needed surprises we have not
thought of and perhaps you are her conduit.

We will be sending the care package on Monday February 27th.

If you want to learn more about Goot-Ges
and her important work you can visit her website here: yakguudangjournies.wordpress.com

You can also learn more about her work in
the Voices: Indigenous Women on the Front Lines Speak archives here:
voicesbook.tumblr.com.

To get in touch with us you can contact voicesfrontlines@gmail.com to ask
a question, arrange a drop off, make an e-transfer of funds, share a recipe
etc.

standingrockstories:

Camp Updates and Water Protector Concerns
1. No one in camp knew about the arrival of the Army Corps today. When they met with the Medics they brought DAPL as well as EPA in a pre-preliminary assessment. While they were meeting the barricades were being moved closer to camp.

2. Morton county claims that they have been in communication with camp leadership, however leaders they did speak with never came close to giving the go-ahead to move the barricades closer to the camp… it was in fact the reverse that was promised, the barricades were meant to go further away from camp. The bridge was supposed to be opened up.

3. Protectors who came up to the site of the moved barricades said “We have a right to be here.” TRUE.
The gathering was there to witness, to keep eyes on the situation that’s moving fast, with an air of calmness, but there is a definite lack of communication from law enforcement.

4. BIA are positioning tonight to control traffic and presence at the 11am meeting tomorrow at the Cannonball River by Rosebud/Sicangu camp.

This week we move towards the fullness of
the moon.

As she/they/zi fills so do we.

We are water and our own tides are drawn by
her/them/hir.

Oceans within us.

We are full of the magnitude of the seas, rains,
tears and wild currents.

We are full of power.

Notice your fullness as she/they/zi grows to light
the night sky.

Reflect on the nature of your power.

And when the time comes release.

Release your power into the world and allow
your magics to do their work.

The ones who walked with queer, brown, mad,
feral, ferocious, tender love on the body of our mother before us ask no less
of us in these times of growing calamity.

Look within yourself.  Ask the creatures around you for help.  And draw out your own abilities in service of
the earth and all those deemed too dangerous to be left free by white
supremacy, colonialism, cis-supremacy, pathology…  let our inner fires burn as bright stars and
our kin never to burn by the violent hands of white patriarchy ever again.

Queer, Anti-Racist print maker Annie Banks is a white settler living and organizing in Huichin, on Chochenyo Ohlone territories, in the Bay Area.  She works her magics in collaboration with fellow facilitators and organizers, artists and makers; crafters of practical magics.  Annie’s ability to learn from those around her and then transform that information into accessible mediums through words and images is a powerful gift.

The print pictured at the top, created in solidarity with all the Water Protectors throwing down against the Dakota Access Pipeline is a gift from Annie to those contributing material supports to the 2Spirit Warrior Society.

An Offering to you.

You can find more of Annie’s work here <3.

And please enter the raffle in support of the 2Spirit
Warrior Society to ensure fellow warriors of the earth do not enter battle
without all the protections we have to offer in the way of material support,
spells and prayers.

Enter the raffle for a chance to win one of
Annie Banks’ prints
and allow the product of her magics to flow into
your own currents.  And let your networks know about the work taking place here.

Share in the power of witnessing one
another’s paths as we move along our own.
Let the tides move and gather and flow through you.  Rain fire down upon our enemies offer
protections to our kin and soothing hands, tender hearts to the wounded.

“This movement is not just about a pipeline.  We are not fighting for a
reroute, or a better process in the white man’s courts.  We are fighting
for our rights as the indigenous peoples of this land; we are fighting
for our liberation, and the liberation of Unci Maka, Mother Earth.  We
want every last oil and gas pipe removed from her body.  We want
healing.  We want clean water.  We want to determine our own future.“
